WATCH OUT! WITH YOUR EYES

One of the most important tools for translators is eyesight because most of our activity is based on reading for long hours in front of computer.  That is why we must take care of it by finding time to rest, consult an ophthalmologist for routine check outs and especially if we have troubles when seeing; it is also important to take vitamins and also use natural medicines to relief our fatigued eyes.

There are some recommendations about taking care of our eyes, for example:

  •  Reduce the reflex and brightness of our computer
  • Use our computer screen in a distance of 30 or 35 centimeters approximately
  • Take rests after each 20 or 30 minutes of work in front of the computer
  • Consult ophthalmologists so they can determine if there is need to use glasses, lubrication drops or vitamins
  • There are also some natural supplements that help to relief fatigued-eyes like: Euphrasia drops, cucumber slices and potatoes slices among others.

Work is important, but it is more important to be healthy to do a better job.

FUTURE BEGINS IN OUR PRESENT PLANS

It is normal that after having accomplished a goal or a wish in life, we get a deep feeling of freedom, a sense that everything is done and that we deserve a good rest.  It is valid to feel that way, but is valid just for a while. Many people think of having a Sabbatical time to devote their lives to travel, to spend more time with the family or to do other kind of activities that were procrastinated.

Some people will have the opportunity to travel, maybe to farer places, which in my opinion is a wonderful way to widen up our view of world and life.Others will prefer stay with family, especially if they have kids. They will have the time to go outside and play with them or simply go to the corner store for an ice cream. Many others will do some cooking, fixing things at home or meeting old friends to drink a cup of coffee.

Whichever it may be the activity, it is also important to take some time to think about longer term goals in life.  If we go back in time, we will realize that after having felt that completeness in our previous accomplished goals, it suddenly sparked the idea of what was next.

So, I encourage you that after having a deserved rest, make plans that projects your future by making yourself a simple question: Where do I want to be in next five, ten or more years?
